Eyes of hope

In the eyes of hope my dreams seem aloof,
And this voyage is devoid of hurdles.
Very promising, yet no concrete proof,
In this residence of ceaseless struggles.

Many a night I've dined with my lone thoughts,
Merrying with a cup of coffee or two,
While vying so hard to connect the dots,
And make sense of the jigsaw puzzle, too.

The beaming lights of glory are now dim,
Wearing out the power of my vision,
And of vast eminence, my greatest whim,
Birthing the guise of a fruitless mission.

I reach for the stars in the cold light of day.
It's a journey of the bold, I dare say!
