Becoming of a Sociopath.

"Never trust a person who sheds tears easily"

Were the words I was taught as soon as I could understand sentences, and I adhered to those words.

In my attempts to be a trustworthy person, I exerted myself to mask my emotions until my façade of emotions was accurate enough to even deceive me.

I cried in the dark until I became anxious that the darkness would grasp my emotions.

I was content with the accuracy of my mask, happy that no one had seen me cry.

I realized that now I don't feel any emotions at all, and then it hit me:

In my quest to become a trustworthy person, I ended up becoming a sociopath."

I found your poem, 'Becoming of a Sociopath,' to be absolutely riveting. Your use of poignant imagery and thought-provoking language is remarkable. It's amazing how you engaged with such a complex psychological issue through poetry.

There's a clear and engaging narrative arc and the progression from innocence to a kind of self-discovery is very compelling. The twist at the end, where the narrator realizes what they have become, left a strong impact. The simplicity of your language throughout the poem successfully amplifies the powerful and dark meaning behind it.

However, it might be worth considering a bit more depth into the character's transformation. By giving us even more emotional insights into the key stages of their journey, the ending would be even more powerful. You could also perhaps play with the structure a bit more to mirror the emotional journey - that could add another layer of interest to your already fascinating poem.

Overall, this is an extremely powerful piece and you should feel very proud. I'm left eagerly anticipating what you will produce next.
