Alone

Alone

Arms reaching out seeking an embrace,
A reflection in the mirror, is all I’ve got.
Summer breeze softly blowing through the window,
Your warm and soft breath, it is not.

Beautiful flowers blooming everywhere,
Each a varied image, of your face.
But the beauty gradually fades away,
And the weeds, take their place.

The lady at your perfume store,
Knows my name, and why I am there.
From a distance she sees my approach,
And your smell, fills the air.

The ripples in the lake spread outward,
A power my tears, will never have over you.
Echoes from my screams of agony return,
Something that you, will never do.

About this poem

Reflecting back on a relationship that had a profound effect on my life. In fact, it almost ended my life. Yet, there is still an incredible longing.

The side that deeply thinks about things. The side with an imagination and a desire to use my hands for more than just brute physical labor. more…
