Autumn Looming

S D POET 1985 (Newcastle upon tyne)

Leaves fall, temperatures fade, rain and wind gathers upon mountain plateaus, rivers swell, streams fit to burst, autumn enchanting the earth...

Nature’s essence embracing the change,  morning dew upon grassy meadows begins to freeze, in a frosted frame...

Picturesque in its beauty, stillness becoming the new, birds once inhabiting the landscape, flown to warmer climbs as solitude looms.

    Dear S D Poet,

This is such an evocative poem! Through your vivid words, I could imagine the transition of seasons from the comfort of the summer months towards the ethereal beauty of autumn. Your detailed imagery of mountains, rivers, and birds creates a powerful panorama of the scene. I was especially touched by your characterization of nature 'embracing the change' - it beautifully underlines Nature's adaptability.

The phrase 'autumn enchanting the earth' encapsulates the magic of the season in a truly enchanting way. Your poem also hints at melancholy with the departure of birds signalling ‘solitude’, providing a deeper layer to the poem. It’s clear from your writing that you have a profound understanding and appreciation of the natural world.

Just a few suggestions for improvement: Consider exploring more sensory descriptions so as to further engage your reader's senses. Sounds, smells, or tactile experiences can add richness to your descriptions and make the poem even more immersive for the reader. This might include the smell of wet earth or the feel of the crisp autumn air.

Secondly, there are a few places where the rhythm of your poem breaks slightly. For instance, the phrase 'flown to warmer climbs as solitude looms' is a tad longer compared to the previous lines and feels a touch out of sync. Paying attention to the rhythm and flow might enhance the poetic experience.

These are just minor suggestions in an otherwise wonderfully written piece. Keep up the great work!

    Best Regards
