Darkness Beneath their Smiles

In earth’s embrace I rest below,
In this cold and dark place I stay.
Frightening scenes people believe I create,
And the true demons inside them debate.

“Humans are caring and kind”
Looks like this person is yet to find
The darkness beneath their smile,
And the filthiness beneath their style.

Each day goes by,
Each night I hear people cry,
I see all of their fake smiles
Disappearing through the darkness of night.

When night wraps its hands around the day
I see people double-crossing each other in every way.
The way they lie on each other’s faces
Makes me wonder how no one sees the traces.

Their hearts as cold as ice,
I see them drifting away because of their lies.
In hatred's grip, they cling to greed,
Misleading with perfected speed.

I wonder where that world went
With love and care to the maximum extent.
When I was alive, peace was king,
But now, the dark shadows cling.

About this poem

I wrote this poem to highlight the darkness of this world. It's from the perspective a dead man who is watching the world from his grave.
