Through The Darkness

Through The Darkness

Through the darkness he watches
Listening to the lies being told
As if people are sheep
And dumb enough to accept
Rhetoric as real
Propaganda as factual
Dogma as decency
While he watches
He reports what is true
As if pictures and words
Indeed are precious.

Ravish Kumar more than reports
Seeking the truth is trouble
Good enough to make
Waves with those who want
Nothing to move in water
Reverence for rights
Equality for everyone
These essential ripples
Remain necessary
For democracy
And eternal vigilance.

The truth is a light needed in night
A clear cool glass of water
You can drink as mud
Settles to the bottom
Dictators dirty up
Your eyes with monopoly
Your ears with mystery
So delusional and deliberate
The window becomes
A wall to keep you in
As you disappear in darkness.
