Phoenix
Getting back up again after an unexpected turn of events is never an easy thing to do
Holding myself from not overflowing the puddles from the tears in my eyes when my world is broken into 2
One side reminds me to be grateful for the things I have and just be happy with what I've been given already
But there is always that darkness in me that lurks up from time to time waiting to cause a calamity
I want to believe that I'm more than enough for someone out there
And not to be someone booty call whenever they catcall me to come here
Time is ticking away and every day makes it harder to stay in my fortress of solitude
Never chase anyone for anything because in the end you will always get screwed
Not saying that I'm starting over again at ground zero but a small detour
Adjusting my point of view with my new experience gained to proceed to the next door
Climb higher to a new altitude to fly above the clouds to shelter me from the darkness
That same negative aura that emerges within me when I am not feeling at my best
Always crashing and burning with my wings clipped and falling flat-faced into the ground
But as usual, after some soul-searching, rise again like a phoenix... You can't put me down
Can't always wait for something to happen and let things flow naturally though I wish it was true
I'd rather test the hands of fate and grab them by the balls instead of waiting and having no clue
My reasons are as good as anyone's as to why I keep yearning to find my special someone
To build an empire full of trust and honesty with nothing to hide just enjoy the ride have fun
Let the naysayers say all they want I dream big swing for the fence each time to hit that grand slam
Someday I'll hit that target with that person willing to take a chance on me to be her man
