More Hands, Less Words

Charles Edward York 1966 (Saigon, Vietnam)

More Hands, Less Words

If passion can make the impossible happen
Then more hands and less words
Must write real verses
Penetrating space
Building bridges
Touching souls
Moving hearts and minds
With actions imitating intentions.

The poets inspire more than politicians
And preachers proselytizing
With three point sermons
Words are wheels
Rolling with emotions
Furiously flying fast
Past speech into deeds
Painting pictures revealing truth.

More hands, less words reach out more
The empathetic ear
A caring heart meets a need
So must the wordsmith
The benevolent bard
Whose speech lifts up,
Communes with the muse
And brings poems to nourish us all.
