Burden Of Color

White privilege perpetuates pain
It’s presence discriminates
An odor of superiority
Rising out of weakness
It wipes out humility
In favor of false pride
Pushing everyone aside
Eliminating bridges
In favor of walls.

The burden of color is benignity
It’s the antidote for bigotry
Bringing balance
To the excess of power
Held too long
By closed hands
So unwilling to share
Only evil abides by absolutes
Refusing to accept all hues.

Love is the right of all life
Where privileges die
In favor of acceptance
We are one sentient species
A human race who bleeds
One color underneath
Humanity is the poetry
Creation writes to continue
Verses in every color.
