Written in the sand

Charles Fields II 1955 (Fort Bragg, NC)

We exist in a stream of spirits
fed from the same source

which rarely do we recognize

As energetic beings
in a vibrant community

Of like souls.

Whether we agree
or choose not to be associated
with one another

this is no less true

We find strength
in building bridges

or let waves of our misunderstanding
disrupt the harmony of the flow

and tear us apart.

The creator wisely
has made the commands
known between us

Never owned
by one or another
Written in the sand

so that we may see its truth
Not to dwell on it, too much.

Merely to understand
the nature of it all,
By waves
which come and go.

Where we stand becomes
The perspective we experience.
Do not be fooled
and become too proud,

For the next wave
will erase your claim.
Understanding is easy,
free, and uplifting.

Praying for understanding
becomes wisdom
As we study
the flow of life.

Let us all protect
the ones we love,
endure
what we must

Until
the next wave
brings truth
closer to heart,

Let us
build communities
of like minds,

Be kind to those
who love us

And...

Let those we love
grow in truth

To love
