The Caged Sky

I was brought to this place as a baby
Torn from my mother’s breast
My family’s screams I still hear in my dreams
With the sound of my mother’s last breath

Sentenced to life for my beauty
Kept here for the people to see
They only care about money and objects
And that’s what they’ve made out of me

For they made me an inmate, a prisoner
The sky now has bars in the way
As for my gentle old mother
Her hand made a perfect ashtray
