Love Conquers Revenge
Tammie Swinehart 1974 (Mooresville, IN)
In a realm where darkness lurks and anger breeds,
A glimmer of light, a hope that exceeds,
A force more potent than revenge's cruel dance,
A grace-filled essence, a second chance.
For vengeance may seem a tempting brew,
To right the wrongs, to hurt back too,
Yet, deeper within, a truth we'll find,
A nobler path, a love entwined.
In battles fought with hearts ablaze,
Fury blinds and reason strays,
But in forgiveness, strength resides,
A healing balm that gently guides.
To rise above and break the chain,
To let go of hate's relentless reign,
To mend the wounds that hatred sows,
The path of peace, a virtue shows.
For in forgiveness, hearts release,
The burdened weights, the pain decrease,
A balm that mends the shattered soul,
And fosters growth, to make us whole.
It takes more courage to extend a hand,
Than to retaliate with the forces banned,
To understand the torment of the foe,
And find compassion, let kindness flow.
For hatred spreads like a poison's sting,
Yet love's embrace, it can unring,
In tender whispers of empathy's plea,
A chance to heal, to set hearts free.
Let not revenge be the song we sing,
But compassion's tune, let it ring,
For in embracing love over disdain,
We'll find a world of peace to gain.
