Love's Gazing Dance

Tammie Swinehart 1974 (Mooresville, IN)

In this vast expanse, I find my place,
A realm of shadows, light's embrace,
From far apart, our eyes entwine,
Across the room, our souls align.

A sea of faces, noise and gleam,
Yet you're the one who steals my dream,
Through crowded tides, your beacon's strong,
Across the room, where I belong.

The fleeting seconds slow their flight,
As hearts connect, though out of sight,
A silent pull, a cosmic thread,
Across the room, our spirits spread.

In glances stolen, hearts conspire,
A dance of words, a hidden fire,
The distance shrinks, no walls to loom,
Across the room, love starts to bloom.

With every step, I close the gap,
Each moment's breath, a gentle tap,
My journey's end, my sacred quest,
Across the room, with you, I'm blessed.

Yet time betrays, it slips away,
The night departs, the end of day,
But in my heart, a spark will bloom,
For across the room, I found my bloom.

Tammie Swinehart

Not much to say. I live in a small town in Indianapolis and work full-time as a manager for an insurance company. I have written poems going back to grade school. They were all horrible, but fun and passed the time. I have journals of poems that go back 40 years. So now that I have more free time, I dig them out, clean them up while preserving the original thought and meaning behind them. more…
