Insightful Hindsight Poem

Tammie Swinehart 1974 (Mooresville, IN)

In the tapestry of life, we find,
A truth that wisdom oft reminds,
In moments passed, we were but blind,
Yet hindsight shows with perfect sights.

The choices made, like scattered stars,
In moments dim, seemed right and clear,
But time unveils the truth that mars,
The paths we tread, both far and near.

Through years that pass, the fog recedes,
And clarity emerges bright,
As hindsight's lens reveals the deeds,
Once hidden in the veils of night.

Those lessons learned, in retrospect,
Are etched in shadows of the past,
With 20/20 vision, we detect,
The roads we took, where shadows cast.

Regrets and joys, a woven tale,
A symphony of laughter, tears,
Through triumph's shine and sorrow's gale,
We grow and learn from yesteryears.

Embracing faults, we strive to mend,
To forge a future, strong and true,
With knowledge gained, we now transcend,
The limits of what once we knew.

So as we journey through the years,
Let's cherish wisdom's steady gleam,
For hindsight's gift, so crystal-clear,
Illumines paths of hopes and dreams.

Tammie Swinehart

Not much to say. I live in a small town in Indianapolis and work full-time as a manager for an insurance company. I have written poems going back to grade school. They were all horrible, but fun and passed the time. I have journals of poems that go back 40 years. So now that I have more free time, I dig them out, clean them up while preserving the original thought and meaning behind them. more…
