A Farmer's Hands

The farmer's hands were dark with dirt
Because he was so long at work.
They both looked rough and calloused too
From all the work he had to do.

He raised one hand as if to shield
The sun which shined upon his field
So he could look about his farm
While he enjoyed a day so warm.

Both hands had made this day be one
In which no work was left undone,
Because the farmer worked 'till night
To make sure all chores turned out right.
