Why Is It So Easy to Hate?

Behavior I don't understand,
Especially when hate
Propels uncivil action and
Mean words do not abate.

They don't believe the Golden Rule,
Instead they seem to say,
"Be mean to everyone so you'll
Have victory each day".

Not all are bullies when they treat
Another with contempt.
Some had a childhood not so sweet;
Parental love exempt!

How do we teach them all to care
With values shared by most?
They can't relate to words we share;
With minds of hate engrossed!
