Echos of Unrequited Love

Sometimes I think of Cindy who
I saw in high school when
We both were teens; I could not do
A thing with shyness then.

Sometimes I think of Joe Ann too,
We worked at West Side School.
I could not help how feelings grew,
But I was not a fool.

Like Cindy, she did not care, it's true.
But it is just as well,
Because inside my heart I knew
With Suzi I will dwell!
