I NEED SOME REST

mad hippie poet 1974 (new jersey)

The voices keep getting louder the farther I go. If I put out the flames, the higher they seem to grow. I am trapped inside this ring with no escape. I was put here to question myself and my new thoughts of spirituality and my new reality where time is just an illusion, that this is all a dream, that we do not exist just for being that there is a need to know the truth that hides inside of me.

Another day, I am still walking in the direction I need to go. I hear the voices, yet I know I'm not insane; I'm looking through this glass and seeing my past reflections. While my present is screaming in my ear, you must be kinder to yourself because no one else will, so keep walking and refuse to stand still.

Some things may never change these voices and colors are getting so much louder that I stick my hand inside my brain to rearrange them until they stand a little still so I can be awake when I sleep at night. Because my body is tired, I need to rest.
