Kindness Is A Classroom

Kindness Is A Classroom

Kindness is a classroom
Where we learn to get along
With each other
So where are the students
When the teacher isn’t there?

The board is bereft of benignity
Where words should be
There are crude drawings
Of bigotry and prejudice
Hatred in hues slung and sticking.

In the river of separation
Lies buoys to block immigrants
Drowning them in desperation
The crippling dictator
Determined kindness isn’t deserved.

Cruelty is the new lesson
Taught to torture the innocent
Our children are desensitized
Unlucky to be shot
By bump-stocks and banana clips.

Yes kindness bleeds on floors
Where getting along got lost
And a gunman holds
An assault rifle pointing
At our future with total malice.
