Free verse
Last breath
I was there,
a slight breeze
of disease
in the air.

First breath
you were there,
a smile of
joy for your
baby boy.

It takes such
a long time to
grow up,
and such a
short time
to grow old

      doesn't it?

About this poem

I was with my mother the moment she died and this poem reflects the thoughts I had at that moment.
