Time Flies

Time flies but it still has to clear customs.
Much to its annoyance, time must declare lost years,
wasted days, and stolen moments upon entry.

Time must also pay duty on any tinctures, stitches, and nicks it might he carrying.

And even though the customs delay might cause time to miss its connecting flight, officers are required to search all suspicious luggage for they know all too well

that time often hides anger, regrets, and grudges
in its zippered compartments.

And the last thing customs wants is for more
anger, regrets, and grudges to enter the country.

About this poem

Thought it would be fun to play with the idiom "time flies" and to personify time as a person passing customs.
