Love after Broken

Bonnie Gifford 1987 (California)

I thought my heart was dead,
But you brought it back to life.
You showed me that love is real,
Regardless of the strife
I was so afraid to love again,
After what I had been through.
But you showed me that it's worth the risk,
To open my heart to you.
You're everything I've ever dreamed or wanted,
You're kind, and funny, and smart.
You make me feel safe, and loved,
You're the keeper of my heart
I'm not afraid to love you
Because I know that you'll never break me.
You're the only one who cared enough
To reach in the dark to save me
I love you more than words can say,
Forever and further still
You chose me with all my broken
And showed me love is real.
