Social Anxiety

Daniel Barrett 1983 (Birmingham)

Lets talk about my social anxiety
For me to conquer is a top priority

But I don't know what is the right avenue
To get the correct help for what I'm going through

I find it hard to be in a crowd
At times it can be very noisy or just too loud

When on my own I'm the funniest person in the room
At my lowest point negative thoughts is all I consume

Some might consider me quiet and boring
But I just find being in public at times a bit overwhelming

For the average person to 'understand' is what they lack
When it's really bad the panic can feel like a heart attack

So all the social situations I try to avoid
I hate being this way, at myself I'm truly annoyed

From this world I now feel disconnected
It's not a nice feeling like when you get rejected

My life Is stunted because of the struggle and suffering
Like when the internet connection stops because of all the buffering

I'm at a stage now where I feel stuck in my way
All I can do is talk to God and so I continue to pray

To those who thought they knew me this may seem absurd
But I truly feel like Conrad Roy the third...

May he rest in peace.

About this poem

This poem is about people who suffer from social anxiety, as my first poem was about depression these two subjects can go hand in hand and so I just thought I would write a poem about it too!
