Burn Notice
Burn Notice
When I got burned in love
It was natural to be scared
I wanted your warmth
But I didn’t want the flames
The pain goes away
But the scars always remain.
You broke what I gave you
My heart fell apart
The day you said we’re done
Taking my smiles away
Running them over
With the lie of I love you.
All those years I waited
For you to give me your time
Instead of excuses
Putting me off for other reasons
You left me to fend for myself
Starving in the shadows.
In silence when no one watched
I cried while you laughed
Blaming and shaming me
You reduced me to an ATM
A sex toy I couldn’t be
And left me to the dogs.
The day arrived to leave you
As you turned to someone else
Who beat you senseless
In the wake of forever
You let me go in silence
A burn notice turned to ashes.
