In the Bertram

She’s out of storage
Beautifully refurbished
Re-equipped for this summer.
New marina helps much.
And available island cottage.

Bertram has trim, length, power
Just right for Bay waves
And winds.
Fishing assistant extraordinaire.
And oh how I love
Dropping in the line.

Pickerel, pike, maybe
Muskie, if coldish waters.
Not much action.
Just like some fat log
Immovable.
And the lure for him is GIGANTIC.

My wife is now also
Quite a marine pro.
Brings the Dog.
He will be up front
Catching all the breezes.
Tongue out happily.

Loves bringing her camera.
The grays, greens and dark blue.
Maybe a loon, baby in tow
Or stunning crimson sunset.
And the clouds, the clouds.
Rehearsing the routes of Champlain
Of First Nations, trapping.
Of times at summer camp.

Yes…love that Bertram.
