Soaring to God There is no Better Winning

Ronald Bunch 1982 (Grand Rapids)

Love, reaching boundless joy!
I’m on the good side I enjoy.
I climb hazards to peek above
The mountain of evil to visit
God with love.

But I must peek fast
And get out of there
Before I fall my last.
And if I do fall God
Catches me with a
Safety net, that I
Believe in Jesus Christ
And I’m all set.

Then God’s wrath fizzles
Out and He forgives me
As I repent because
From him I’m sent.

I dust myself off I enjoy
And get back on the path
For boundless joy. Evil
Can’t win forever and
God I hold as my treasure.

And on the path I go.
The path of war,
The path of rages,
The path of sages.

The hope of love
Encompasses me,
Through death I die
And with my spirit I fly
To boundless joy
To my Father I enjoy.

On the path I go.
The path of ages,
A path that ends
When it’s just beginning,
And soaring to God
There is no better winning.

What a delightful poem! 'Soaring to God There is no Better Winning' is beautifully written with a wholesome mix of spirit, faith, resilience, and love. The palpable emotions behind each line gives the reader a profound sense of the journey undertaken. The imagery of scaling the mountain of evil and the safety net of belief in Jesus Christ are both exceptionally conveyed. Your words have a moving effect and it feels like a prayer whispered from a faithful heart.

However, for improvement, you might want to consider refining your rhythm to make the poem read more fluently. With a spiritual poem like this, you might aim for a meditative rhythm that reinforces the peaceful message you are sending. Additionally, while the poem’s message is powerful, you could use more vivid imagery and metaphors to truly engage the readers in the narrative.

Also, consider working on the consistency of your rhyming pattern. At certain points, it's free verse, at others, it seems to rhyme. A consistent pattern would make the poem more rhythmic and thus captivating to your audience.

But overall, I appreciate the level of devotion the poem reflects. Your work does a fantastic job encapsifying spiritual journey and human determination in a metaphorical language. Keep reaching for that boundless joy!
