Serotonin Moments

The moment,
Pure and crystalline,
Like a serotonin high—
But what happens
When the haze
Of serotonin clears?
When the dopamine subsides,
And reality creeps in,
Do we return to the void,
The darkness that lingers?

Serotonin moments,
Brief flickers
In the vast expanse
Of existence,
A rush of pleasure
And euphoria,
A glimpse of something more,
Something beyond
The mundane,
The ordinary grasp of life.

We chase these
Fleeting moments,
Like addicts
Seeking fix,
Desperate
To feel alive,

The clutches

Content.

So we hunt,

For those

Those ephemeral glimpses

Something

The boundaries
Of existence.

But in this endless pursuit,
Do we miss the beauty
Of the in-between?
The stillness,
The quiet,
The moments
Of reprieve?
The ordinary, the mundane,
That also has its own allure,
Its own subdued joy?

Perhaps the answer lies
Not in the chase,
But in the acceptance,
In embracing the highs,
The lows,
And everything in between.
