MORE MONEY OUT THAN MONEY IN

MORE MONEY OUT, THAN MONEY IN

How about that money I owe?
Letters come to say Hello!.
Another one came yesterday.
Hello again, how much can you pay?

More money out than money in
for this my tongue yearns for gin.
Oh! So little here to spare.
Who writes Hello and really cares?

Money for more, the more the money,
swallow pride pies sweet as honey.
It takes forty acres and a mule,
a paid day’s work is the golden rule.

Some bills on angels’ wings have weight
ten times their size to Heaven’s gate.
Money, oh money, even up here.
Heaven invoices and adds arrears.

Less money in, less money’s a burden
in a jar a shoebox an amount uncertain.
no dollars to grin, no dollars to pocket
only Benjamins stashed away, rock it!

Money to contract & sign on shifting sand
A thousand grains right through my hands.
the more money, the more money to blow
How about that money I owe?

About this poem

After emailing numerous payments online, I wrote this poem about paying the bills every month but I didn't want to have the stress of financial reality in the verse - because bills are part of life - so I added the humor.
