Gray

Gray

The day. Phone rings.
You’re gone.
Hit my knees. Cries. No words except no.
Waves of grief. A tsunami.
How could you leave me.
World spins. Dreams terrorize me.
You talk to me in them. Then reality.
Life continues for me. Beautiful moments happen except not quite as beautiful now. Stained glass with every third piece being gray.
Moments. Your grandchildren, their blood is yours and mine is yours. So many moments. Minutes into hours and hours into days. Life isn’t the same. Still beautiful but the gray is always there.  Lurking. Waiting to take over. For a moment. An hour. A day. Some days the tsunami overtakes me and some days I crave it and some days I hide. Fight it back. Never normal now. You took part of the beauty of life with you. And I am here. Living.  With the gray.
