Mother
To truly know her,
Is to live through her lives,
Her journey is painful and rocky,
Finally, a fairy tale among the braves.
She has lived the life of a daughter,
In a loving but dysfunctional family,
This life she only told me about,
No chance, no choice, she lived it dreamily.
She has lived the life of a student,
This one she's always excited to tell,
Her teacher says, she was her best student,
But to education, her father was impudent.
She has lived the life of a mother,
This journey we have taken together,
My gaze of hope left her in tears,
You'll be free, she promised, no tether.
She has lived the life of a wife,
Most of this we suffered together,
How painful! The only choice she made,
Should she just surrender, she didn't know either.
She has lived the life of a divorced woman,
Yes, she left 22 years of investment,
But she gets to live now, not survive,
Rebuilding is her new source of contentment.
Now, she's living the life of a free woman,
As a better student, mother, and daughter,
Now she knows no borders,
She's a free bird, wild and lighter.
