UNSPOKEN LOVE

You're conscious of your beautiful looks,
But you're particularly obsessed with your hair,
Remember that day in my room When you told me to touch it?
You probably don't, it was too long ago.

Anyway, I did, and it was magical and intoxicating,
I said nothing but didn't my eyes give it away?
My brain was running wild at a thousand kilometers per hour,
And my heart was beating out of my chest;
I thought you could see through my hoodie.

I wanted to say a lot but my overthinking brain always wins,
I lost my breath, courage, and love all in one moment,
Because you never tried again after that,
I lost you, So to no one, here goes what I felt, what I should have said.

I can't contain my soul when I'm around you so I'm scared,
Just being around you turns my stomach into a whole fucking zoo,
Your eyes swallow my soul whole so I hope you understand,
Laying this on you means relinquishing control, an art I'm poor at.

You have my heart, my soul, and frankly my body,
I clearly have no say in whatever they do when I'm around you,
There, that's what I should've said when I so clearly had you,
Please go easy on my overthinking brain for making doubt what was so evident.

About this poem

Why do we run from love, then long for it when it's gone?
