Mirror Mirror

Mirror mirror on the wall, who’s the fakest of them all? What the hell!? This can’t be, how’s it me? I’m the realist, the illest, definitely the chillest. I’m the best, the grand master jest, forget about the rest. There’s no better guest, I’ll leave no mess, I’ll listen with good intent, I won’t be late on rent. Wait …..... Wadd’ya mean I don’t live here? Couldn’t I stay just one more year? I’m so confused, where’d all my friends go? I know I had atleast one named Joe. But don’t feel sorry or sad for me, I’ll do that on my own, just wait and see. Self-pity, just omit me, click a button and unfriend me. Leave me be, and you’ll be free. I don’t need anyone, just forget me! Where’d you go? That’s such bull! I don’t blame you, I’m way too dull. Self-effacing, and disgracing, trying my best to erase me. Too much pride and full of lies, has me thinking why I’m alive. Why’d you do this? It’s all your fault! It can’t be me, I’m way too smart! What I wouldn’t give for a brand new start. Turn the mirror, don’t run in fear, just stand and stare, and shed a tear. Cause let’s be fair, there those who care. So get into gear, the beginning is near, a new life to share.

About this poem

Just one of those moments where you find yourself looking around wondering, how did I end up here? I’ve always struggled with having and maintaining a healthy self-esteem. And things aren’t always the way I think they are. My perception of reality rarely matches the facts.
