Where is this freedom that we have died for? Where is this peace that they talked about since we became them the day that we were born, being told as newborns the moment we open our eyes, we have sinned and to have it removed with holy water like we are some demon?
This is no goddamn plantation. I am no slave, and my voice is now becoming the voice of protest, and on my back, the master's whip is getting no rest.
The master says she doesn't like my kind because I refuse to kneel at her feet, and I have the others ready to rebel to speak their mind. She says they know that they have mouths to feed, but they would instead go hungry because they know it is their loyalty that I have but do not need
