Koo Koo Cooped

For whatever the reason,
I grew up to stay away.
From being restricted to limits.
In my childish to live them days.

My ambitions then had been different.
Unconforming to roles,
And games continued to play.
Even as I aged,
Others I knew...
Sought approval and acceptance.
This had not been a road I wanted.
Not permanently to live and stay that way.

These many portray themselves koo koo.
Cooped within mental boundaries.
Believing,
On this Earth...
They will remain to stay unchanged.
With the same seeking of approval.
Hoping to be accepted,
As they grow older never again to be young.
Laughing and joking.
About many others who grew.
To become accountable, responsible adults.
Yet...
The joke is on them to be done.
Although in their...
Unable to let go,
Childish minds to leave behind.
They believe any laughter,
Heard to hear.
Is with them and not at them to expect it.

'LOL..'

'HEY?
Those people over there across the street?
Are they laughing at us or with us?'

'Who knows.
Maybe they are just getting the joke.
And find us hysterical.'

'How from over where they are,
Hear what we were laughing about?
To have stopped it!'

'Again, who knows?
Perhaps they were told how funny we are.
And came to see for themselves,
How much of a joke,
We remain to stay that way to be.
And they've come to know it guaranteed,
A laugh they can get,
From us to receive and for free.'

'Oh...well...
What else can we do stupid?
To leave them not feeling disappointed!'

'Remember when that happened,
To us many years ago?
And back then we were acting,
As if to be out of our minds koo koo?
Like mockingbirds cooped seeking attention?'

'Yeah.
But...
We were being who we are.
Nothing has changed.
We stayed to remain the same.
You know,
Down to Earth.
Why should they now, today, believe...
We were acting?'

'Come on.
Let's go to the other side of town.
At least people like us can be easily found.
And nothing there will leave of us,
Wondering to guess...
If jokes we poke told on folks to tell,
At people we know or once knew...
Is funny or not to keep us laughing!
Times there will remain the same, unchanged!'

'LOL...'

'AND...
What is so funny?'

'The thought of being koo koo cooped.
And restricted to be mentally limited.
As if caged to be addicted,
Just to be mockingbirds.
With a doing to teach our children,
To fly high in the sky as if Eagles.'

'Huh?
What?'

'Never mind.
Are we or are we not,
Leaving here to go back to the 'hood?'
