Senses Distanced

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

Internal has become mental fences built.
Constructed slowly up and around,
Common sense to isolate it permanently.
Until the purpose to influence others,
No longer that common anywhere is found.
Above, below.
Or begging to survive,
Barely alive on the ground.
Suffering from anguish and torture.

Quick has been the creation of suspicions.
Allegations to make.
And divisions to separate,
Everyone.
Leaving no one to observe them feeling,
Remorse or regret felt.
Openly to address even to themselves.
Since this too,
Seems to have been successfully removed.
From emotions to have or express them had.

Absent to value as an asset.
Gone from those mentally abused.
Absent to value as an asset is common sense.
Gone too are minds to witness them used.
Gone also are the times,
When people were proud...
To be called and considered human beings.

Yet...
Now,
Today.
Too distant and far away.
From sense to make.
What more these days imitate to portray.
What they perceive to be,
An effective accepted replica...
Of what they have been told.
How it is a human being should react.
In certain situations.
Done to play the part.
Without it to be asked to show it shown!

'Why are you running?
And taking off most of your clothes?'

'I heard people screaming.
And I'm running to provide,
Them my assistance.'

'Uh...
You do realize,
We are in an amusement park?
Right?
And people on that roller coaster,
Are the ones screaming.
It is normal to hear that here.'

'I know.
I am aware of that.
And I feel it my duty,
To help the wounded.
And others who may need to be rescued.
I have been told,
If I see or hear anything...
That doesn't appear to be normal.
I should do something about it.'

'Yeah, but...
Hey. HEY!...SOMEBODY STOP THAT NUT!'

-Ummm...excuse us.
We all are living in very stressful times.
However...
Which of the nuts out here,
Are you shouting to be stopped?
And...
From what?-

'That one...
Running towards the roller coaster.
Hoping to rescue and save the ones on it.'

-Oh.
And...
From what would that be?
From screaming or having too much fun?
In an amusement park.-

'I know this may sound crazy.
But I was walking.
You know.
And minding my own business.
When this guy heard screaming.
To then say....'

-It's okay.
We understand.
Where we live we hear the same thing.
Don't worry about it.
Calm down. Relax.
Take it easy.
And remember...
There is nothing wrong,
To be around people enjoying their fun.
Try it!-

'Stop.
There's nothing wrong with me.'

-We know.
So do you.
It will be okay.
You will be fine.-

'I...
I should have kept my mouth closed!'

-Have a good day.
You know,
When we use to smoke weed years ago?
It was natural.
Free of mind altering chemicals.
These days?
It pays to be careful.
And try not to buy it off the street.
It's nearly legal everywhere now.
Check the websites.-

'Huh, WHAT?'

-It's true.
Making those voices you hear.
Become songs sung by angels.
Seriously.
Check the websites.
We gotta go.
That roller coaster sounds exciting.
Be well.-

'WHAT?'

-BE WELL...
Geeessshhh!-
