Appearances Deceived

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

Whenever one appears,
Conscious and focused.
With thoughts to think.
And common sense to use.
To discover a deceiving,
What should exist but does not at all.
Stop looking down and around.
This is not a test.

Any argument started by one like this.
Do not attempt to play along with it.
Since...
Appearances deceiving,
Is no different than judging a book.
Based upon how good the cover looks.

To know...
Immediately.
From reading a sentence,
Complete with misused grammer.
And obscenities spoken out of place?
There is no need to read more to continue.
Or believe what to see outside,
Has more content to reveal inside.
Regardless how impressive one is dressed.
Covering up what is hidden to deceive,
With a hope to buy and sell sold...
Thoughts not deep enough,
To bother with the limitations of them.
Knowing nothing will be learned to gain,
Over repetitious nonsense started.

'Uh...
What did you say?'

'Is you is or is you not be listening to me?
I ain't got all day to reveal what I be meaning.'

'I apologize.
I thought to believe,
It had been you who wanted me...
To help you make sense.
And that is not what you need at all.'

'Excuse me,
Mr. Big Word User?
For your information I have a Master's Degree.
On my living room wall.'

'Congratulations.
From what school?'

'Hey...
If I said what I said to say it to be heard.
What difference does it make,
To waste my time.
When you ain't paying no attention?
And besides...
Some people who approach me....
And I ain't saying,
That's what you did done to do.
Some people who approach me,
Ain't wanting conversation.'

'No!
Look at me.
I did not say 'these' I said me, all over. Gee.
Now...
Do I look like a Nun or a visiting nurse,
At somebody's convalescent home.
I think not.'

'I understand.'

'And...
What do you understand?'

'What I do with my hands,
I don't have to pay for.
What I can do for myself,
I have learned to do for free.'

'OH, you nasty!
That ain't even on my mind.
And if I were you,
I would find another way,
To begin foreplay.
Get away from me.
This Lady ain't no tramp.
Be gone, freak!'

'Trust me.
What I have to offer,
You will never be close enough to touch.'

'I is shocked.
For real.
You making my weave itch.
Any other hidden to reveal mysteries?'
