Step Up

Step Up

Walking by one dark lone night
A wanders feet were swift and light.
His haste unknown his trail unlit
He stumbled into a deep dark pit.
HELP!  He gasped as he fell so quick
Grasping for the walls that were so slick.

The bottom he found with a great big THUD!
Fortunately softened by inches of MUD!
Battered, bruised but no worse for wear
Up he stood after quite a scare.
What now he thought, I can't get out.
I need some help!  He started to shout!
He shouted all night and into the day
When from up above he heard folks say,
We can't get him out and there's just now way.
So, we will fill the hole and there is no shame
Besides, it's his fault, and he's to blame.

Standing there with all hope lost
They'll burry me here at any cost!
Then down the dirt started to rain.
Stop you all this is insane!
What is my fate what will it meet
The dirt is high its over my feet!
With scoop after scoop the dirt got high
Above his knee and to his thigh!
I'm doomed he thought, and all is lost!
They're gonna bury me at any cost!
Then all at once in his darkest hour
He had an idea with the greatest power!
Step up he thought before they bury you
Step up and fight it is NOT through!
And with each shovel he stepped and rose
He shook the filth from off his clothes.
And up he went the faster they filled
He couldn't quit he wouldn't be killed.
He wouldn't stop he wouldn't quit
And before long he escaped that pit!

So, step up when folks throw dirt on you
Rise up, rise up it will get you through!
Shake off the filth thrown your way
Shake it off, rise up and be clean today!

Don't stand idly by with planted feet
Pick them up, shake it off, and don't be beat.
He who's feet are on a constant move
Is a man not buried for things will improve

Step up to rise, and rise to win!
Whether it's doubt, or fear or whether its sin.
Step up and rise and live today!
Step up and rise it will be OK!
