Get out, Get out”
Like I hadn’t already tried!
“He’ll hurt you for sure!”
Like I hadn’t already cried
“It’s all your fault”
As if I’m not blaming myself
I’m going insane
Because there’s no one to help
“Try calling the cops”
I call but to my surprise
The damage is done
By the time they arrive
Then minimal sentences
& they set them all free
To threaten, to terrorize, to try to “tame” me
A caged bird with no song
& I’m too scared to speak
Every day I arise
another day of defeat
I sit head low,
Because I’ve lost all my friends
All I have is my life
I don’t want to be away from my kids
I fear the next time,
I wont make it alive
So I plot and I plan
Yet there’s no where to hide
No money, no shelters, no resources I know
He’ll find me, he’ll find me there’s just no where to go
Domestics & violence, how did it ever find me
Im a shell of the woman that I once used to be
I’m taking the pressure, and it’s killing my soul
I just want to live to see my children grow old
People say I’m a fool, I just want to be free…
From The physical bruises…my damaged mentality
They make leaving sound easy, I just wish that it was
When you’re terrorized daily, you don’t know what that does..
Late at night, when the world is at peace…You suffer the damage even when you’re asleep
You want to speak out, but you feel so ashamed
You want to stand up, yet you feel so dismayed
Get out, get out…
I’m just hoping I can
I don’t want to be lost
At the hands of a man…
