Revenge is a sweet dream
Lately I've been having these dreams
where I meet my old form teacher from
my youth in the public toilets of a pub
I used to frequent.
I imagine him saying something
visceral to me and sneering.
And as I zip up my flies I hit him
right in the mouth with a bolo punch
that knocks out his front teeth.
I quickly follow up with a left hook
that smashes his jaw.
He falls to the ground crying for
forgiveness just like a boy in my class
called Gribbin did 40 odd year's ago.
It might've been a long time ago but
I remember that day vividly.
I recall his veins pulsing in his forehead
like lava bubbles.
And phlegm exploding from his mouth
like geyser spray as he rained down
his cricket bat strap on poor Gribbin's
hands arms and legs.
And Gribbin crying for him to stop.
Which he eventually did.
Though not because he thought Gribbin
had had enough punishment but because
he was gassed.
So with that in mind I kicked him right
in the bollocks - once for Gribbin and
then again for all the other boys he
tortured
I leave the pub in a hurry
My knuckles have his teeth imbedded
in them and are covered in his cowardly blood.
As I race out onto the street I feel the
heat from the sun embrace me.
I hear the birds in the trees singing
loudly
Then I hear a loud round of applause.
I turn and look back towards the pub
And there to my delight are my old
school mates lined up applauding
and shouting my name.
Gribbin is at the front shouting and
laughing.
In his right hand he holds up high
the decapitated head of our former
form teacher like a trophy.....
Revenge is sweet even if it's only
a dream.
