Anniversary

Timeless,
the memories stored away
like the records we used to play
that look when you glanced my way
the love on our wedding day

Beauty,
of a stolen kiss
birthdays that you never miss
forgiving, even though you're pissed
perfume sweetly from your wrist

Jealous,
of the time misspent
working just to pay the rent
scrounging to save every cent
where have all the good times went

Older,
we have now become
wiser, but I still seem dumb
weekends now seem so glum
you whisper and my heart goes numb

Lonely,
only when we're apart
your name, etched into my heart
I knew from the very start
that girl, I had to give it a shot

Forever,
that's the way we'll stay
happy each and every day
though we're turning old and gray
I wouldn't have it any other way.
