Mother left them
Without warning.

Lodgings come and go
By Providence.
Meals are earned
By loose change dropped.
Some of mine
And conversations.
Come to know
Of trials he topped.
Just a listener, giving credit.
Now a radio in hand.
Music, hope to lift
Days’ tedium.
Lord, please help him understand.
