Confidence Personified?
Joe Strickland 1986 (Hobbysville, SC)
Jordan, the business executive, full of ambition,
But hiding his low self-esteem beneath a facade of confidence.
A big smile on his face, but tears behind his eyes,
He seems fearless, but his anxiety consumes him inside.
Nameless, he feels, lost in the corporate machine,
A number in the system, a face in the crowd, unseen.
Women love him, drawn to his power and success,
But he's afraid of them, still a virgin, and feeling depressed.
He tells everyone he has big plans, a promising future in sight,
But at night, he goes home and drowns in the darkness of his own mind.
He's trapped in a cycle of self-doubt and uncertainty,
Stuck in a world where success is the only currency,
No room for vulnerability, no space for mistakes,
Perfection is expected, and imperfection deemed fake.
He's lost his sense of self, his purpose in life unclear,
His identity wrapped up in his job, but he's not truly here.
He wants to break free, find a way to truly live,
But the weight of expectation and fear is too much to give.
One day, he collapses under the pressure, unable to cope,
He tells himself it's time to end it all, to give up all hope.
He takes his life, just another statistic in the game,
A bright star that burnt out too soon, lost to the shame.
Jordan, the business executive, full of ambition,
But consumed by the darkness of his own insecurity,
He had a big smile, but cried in secret,
Seemed fearless, but was full of anxiety.
A nameless figure, lost in life's machine,
Trapped in a world where success was everything.
He was loved, but couldn't find the strength to love himself,
And now his light has gone out, lost to the darkness, another victim of this hell.
