The Bachelor

In a world of insecurity, in a world of disbelief
In a world of mounting tension, nigh impossible to find relief;

In a world of vast proportions, where we can easily fade from sight
God gave Eve a gift of love, a beacon in the night;

Cast from a home of worth and joy, where man was first beguiled
A blessed crying, slobbering gift, God gave Eve a child;

When we tend to feel smug, self-satisfied complete
Our lives in perfect sweet control, our paths beneath our feet;

Surveying others with disdain, storm tossed, withered, wild
Do not forget that someday soon, you may just have a child!

Still my doctrine is my safeguard, on it I will rely
No bundle of joy upon my step, of which to make me sigh;

For ‘ere such burden be given me, and cause me so much strife
Before my peace in this life ends, I first must have a wife!
