Who am I?

Regene Hamilton 1999 (Jamaica)

Who am I? I ask myself
Who am i outside of everybody else?
blurred by who you force me to be I became blind to the person I was really supposed to be.

I guess you thought you had me in the very palm of your hands
when you covered me with a mask until finally I was lost, a small price to pay for the little things cost.

The cost of my soul was it really that cheap that I thought I could be better off by not being me?

You cut me open and revealed my dark deeds just so you could hide the dirty insecurities that you bleed.

Little did you know that the pain made me stronger
and every slicing pain pulled me closer like hunger,
starving to find the real me until,
finally, I break free from these shackles that you weaved
and even though I'm still lost I'm on a journey to find me
