Hearsay Headache.

He was dying and things he said on tape.
(Brandon said.)
Put the blame not on my brother Ken
But on his brother Curtis who
Ran the auto body shop which
He had bank rolled.

The shop also defaced registration imprints.
Numbers on stolen cars.
Making the hot vehicles market goods.
Usually painted up
shipped to Cuba or Mexico.
Lucrative, very lucrative.
Container ships used with
The artful design and papers
Of a Harbour Master on the take.

Now the victim was outside the loop
On this illegal trade.
Totally ignorant.
Until one day he saw Curtis
Doing some suspicious grinding.
Victim was later found down at the corner Park.
Knifed sixteen times in his vitals.

My Brother ran the adjacent tobacco shop.
He often had lunch
With Curtis.
Stress had set in for no clear reason.
He wondered about things
mysterious.
Cops picked him up as suspect
Three days later.
Bunch of statements
Making little sense.

Now did the rule against hearsay.
(The tape was hearsay)
Put the curse on any use of the recording?
Or was there a solution
In an exception? Another way to tell?
To save Ken’s neck?
Lawyer, you just argue well.
