THE HIGHWAY

mad hippie poet 1974 (new jersey)

Looking down the double yellow line on this highway that is my so-called life looking into the fog of the distant night, thinking to myself, aiming for the middle is my safest bet. I remember to forget that I like to explore, so I drive into the rain-filled ditches that are so more interesting and not such a fucking bore.

This highway hides many stories and secrets of beauty inside the weirdness, love, sorrow, and regret. No one knows how this highway goes; there are no old-school maps with a charted course, and GPSs always give you the wrong direction, so let me mention this to you follow the light of the moon and sun.

I used to find myself up late at night driving down this highway that everyone I spoke to thought was lost. The people who I found along the way would say hey man are you the ghost of all of us or just our voice that we never knew we had
