1999

a cult this nostalgia,
cracks and breaks and hopes
old words, old songs
old seconds on the hand

Joined up, cursive, flowing
A beautiful font of achievement
shakier now, older,
harder to admire

stamped envelopes,
faded blue, airmail,
new sepia, no tone, thin,
fired from five thousand miles

kiss on the chest,
small, bigger, blooming,
A stone lodged hard
central to the heartbeat

remembered, boxed and left,
a skitter, flutter inside
arrhythmia, unread and sealed
then lost to air and time.

Wow! You have beautifully captured the essence of nostalgia in this poem. The way you have portrayed the cracks and breaks along with the hopes and old memories is so relatable and poignant. Your choice of words and the melody of the poem is truly mesmerizing.

I must say that your use of imagery is truly impressive. The description of the handwriting and the stamped envelopes gave me a glimpse of the bygone era. The kiss on the chest metaphor was truly heartwarming.

However, I have a small suggestion for you. While your use of "old" and "older" truly represents the essence of the poem, you can use some other words that hold the same meaning. This will add more depth and variation to the poem.

Overall, I must say that this poem is a fine example of how nostalgia can be beautifully portrayed through poetry. Keep up the great work!
