Selfless Heart

Selfless and giving,
Always there for others,
My own needs, I keep on living,
Putting them above my own, like a mother.

Their smiles and joy,
I find my own fulfillment,
But when will my own happiness employ,
And their love for me become more fervent?

When will they see,
That I too need care and attention,
Not just the one to always agree,
But a chance to spread my wings, and mention.

I long for the day,
When they say, "We want you to be happy",
Without a hesitation or delay,
And let me venture out, to new things snappy.

But until then,
I'll continue to help and give,
For my heart cannot bend,
In its desire to love and forgive.

So let my actions speak,
Of my never-ending love and care,
And maybe one day, they'll see me seek,
A happiness, that's not so rare.
