BIG

You are big
I am small
Under your foot
 is where I live
with each step
That you take
I am crushed
Just like an ant

You are big
I am small
I am not worthy
Of your love
So I poured
My soul in
And believed
When you said
“Forever, we’ll be friends”

You are big
I am small
I just wanted
To feel loved
I brought you flowers
I’d get you gifts

The front of the theater
We would sit
I hear them say
I tried so hard
“Poor girl, just
 wanted To buy your love”
Shame for them
To be so wrong
I loved
 to make you smile
You’d look
I’d see
   That sweetness
 in your eyes
It was more
Than enough for me

You are big
I am small
I thought you’d be
my friend for life
I look up
You are a tree
There I am

I’m but a leaf
It’s Autumn now
The wind blows
There I fall
Like a sheaf

To you
I am
only but one leaf
Not much value
To you I see
But you  had meant
So much to me
There she is, someone new
And with me you were through
I knew
 that Christmas Eve
That you wanted a future
Without me

That is when
 the plot began
Saying things
That only we knew
To hurt my heart
to lash out on you
My only wish
If given one
Would be that people knew

More about
Reactive abuse

I’m big

You’re small

How does it feel

To rise and fall?

The tides they change
like people do

Some rise up
 with healed wounds
others you trust
Turn their backs on you

The pain of that
Is more than a bruise

I’m big

You’re small
It is so painful
I do recall
You cry out loud
   Your tears fall.
You can’t stand
You can  only crawl

It sounds so natural and I see myself in most lines in it. Fine work.

Great poem about Poetic justice, and how people are subject to its lash if earned.
