Linger

Linger

You always seem to linger
A constant sensation
A personal feeling
Ever so soft
The delicious thought
I savor and enjoy
Beauty so compelling
I never tire to behold
You hold my attention
So strong
I’m spellbound
With you
I’m never alone.

You always seem to linger
A perfume so sweet
A scent so intense
And still so soft
You intoxicate me
Resistance is
You guessed it: futile
Your infectious
Crazy amazing gaze
You give me
Reshapes my frowns
I can’t help
Smiling back at you!

You always seem to linger
A little while longer
When other things fade
And friends are gone
You are there
A compass
Redirecting me
Towards my better angel
Lifting me up
Adding purpose
To an imperfect path
Purifying my heart
To live and love you
Beyond forever.
